One referendum campaign to protect the recovering population of wolves in Michigan was apparently not enough. After a campaign to put protection of wolves on the Michigan General Election ballot in 2014, the Michigan Department of Natural Resources did an end-around, naming the wolf a game species and establishing a Fall hunting season for wolves in Michigan. 43 wolves will be killed in the fall season.
Now, another campaign is underway to over turn PA 21 establishing the hunt and meetings will be held across the state to get yet another campaign going. In Kalamazoo, the meeting will take place Sunday, July 21 at the Holiday Inn West on 11th Street at Stadium Drive at 12:00noon.
The group Keep Michigan Wolves Protected also has a Facebook page with more information on their efforts to save the wolves in Michigan.
