Will & Grace co-creators David Kohan and Max Mutchnick based this series — about gay and straight best friends and colleagues — on themselves. And I congratulate Mutchnick on casting as his alter ego the brilliant Michael Urie (Ugly Betty), who elevates this show out of mediocrity with his comedic power. (Just watch him explain why saying the word doctor is so much easier than nurse.) Sadly, the rest of the sitcom winds up feeling like a '90s throwback, complete with a laugh track and schmeckle jokes. Jack would not approve.
