Cost of Being a Bridesmaid

Movie Bridesmaids

Dang...Weddings are expensive but being in a wedding is just as expensive.

This afternoon Jon and I were talking about weddings and how much they cost, especially for the people in it.

So I found this article and here is the break down.

ere's how they break it down:

Engagement gift: $50
Travel to bridal shower: $300
Contribution to bridal shower: $50
Shower gift: $50
Travel to bachelorette party: $300
Contribution to bachelorette party: $60
Bridesmaid dress: $150
alterations: $50
lingerie: $50
Shoes: $75
Accessories: $60
Wedding gift: $100
Travel to wedding: $300
Hair, nails, make-up: $100

That doesn't even include hotelo, meals and drinks....

So the grand total is about $2,000!

When I get married someday...down the road, way down the road.

This is what I'm gonna do:

-No engagement gifts, wedding shower etc...Just wedding gifts! I think it gets a little carried away with expecting all these gifts from people.

-No opening of gifts after the wedding. Do people really want to watch you open your gifts? Especially when you have already expected them to do so much. Wouldn't you rather do that with your husband...in the privacy of your own home in your PJs?!

-Bridesmaids dresses that CAN be warn again and WOULD be warn again. Not ones that people say can...but you never would!

Ok that's about it...I'm sure there is more I would change. :) But that is good for now.
