KC-135 Refueling Mission Success!

Posted by Jess Kelley on

Yesterday the Air Guard give me a once in a lifetime opportunity to fly in a KC-135 plane.

They took us on a refueling mission 30,000 feet in the air.

If you don't know what a refueling mission (like me before this) it's basically a mission where they refuel planes with gas in mid-air.

Our mission yesterday was to refuel a Thunderbird 30,000 ft in the air, going about 400 MPH, and 30 feet from the Thunderbird.

It was incredible. The landing was the hard part! ha

Here are some of the pictures:

Here are the Boom Operators (love that title...I kept singing Smooth Operators)

I hate flying but I did it!!!!!

Thanks Air Guard for give me this opportunity!
