Welp, that about sums up the Wisconsin/Indiana game on Saturday. Just a total mismatch in every way possible. Sort of like when I try and play Call of Duty online against 12 year olds, a category 5 trainwreck from the word go. The only difference between this video and the actual game I suppose is that Indiana couldn't just lay down and end it. They kept getting propped up again and again and again for the full 12 rounds. Which of course has led to all sorts of bellyaching from the national media about the final score. This from New York Post columnist Phil Mushnik:
"Saturday, as seen on ESPN2, Bielema had his quarterback throw a 74-yard TD pass to make it 76-13 over Indiana, final score, 83-20. What a guy.
"Why beat them, and badly, when you can stomp them, humiliate them? You've seen the NCAA image ads: Participation in athletics teaches sportsmanship and builds good character in young men. Yeah, sure.
"The biggest loser on Saturday was the day's biggest winner, Bielema. But what do I know; I'm just a sports fan."
And the wussification of America continues. Whaaaaaaaa Brett ran up the score. Whaaaaaaaaa he's a meanie who doesn't care about sportsmanship. Whaaaaaaaaaa I'm so angry I'm going to waste a column in the NEW YORK FRIEKIN POST to write about Big Ten football. Seriously Phil, you're in the largest sports market in the world. The Giants just got spanked by Jon Kitna, the Jets barely beat the Browns after barely beating the Lions. The Knicks are a laughing stock. There has got to be something more interesting to write about than the Indiana Hoosier football program getting wrecked. Like it wouldn't shock me if Tim Brewster is ghost writing Mushnik's column. Lord knows he's got more free time after getting fired from Minnesota.
Bottom line is what do you want Bielema do to? Dude put Nate Tice in the game and STILL scored touchdowns. Nate. Tice. I'm pretty sure a tuba player was going to get in the game if it went on any longer. It's not the Badgers job to stop scoring, it's Indiana's job to stop their 3rd string QB from making it rain in the 4th quarter. I mean have some pride Hoosier nation! Not to mention if you're going to put blame on somebody for this murderballing put it on the NCAA. They are the organization that facilitates this behavior by making margin of victory a factor in whether or not your school plays in a BCS bowl game. This would be like blaming me for spelling errors when clearly it's our blogging system's fault for not having built in spell check. I mean what am I supposed to do? Copy and paste into Word? Pfft.
PS: You know what else that game reminded me of? The old WWF shows where a guy would start in the ring right away. Like the Badgers were Ric Flair struttin down the aisle and the Hoosiers were the guy already standing there with no intro music or cool name. It was always just the guy's first and last name. Like 'Dave Helms,' or 'John Maxwell.' If you didn't have an adjective or music you may as well have just stayed in the locker room. Now cue the music!
