EVERYBODY PANIC!

The Packers placed safety Derrick Martin on injured reserve with a knee injury that he suffered Sunday at Washington. His season is done.

After Greg Bedard also reported on his twitter account that tight end Jermichael Finley will be out longer than the original three weeks expected following surgery, there is a new update. Bedard has learned from a source that the surgery revealed more damage than initially thought and that Finley is likely done for 2010.

ANOTHER UPDATE: Just got off the phone with Bedard. He said the Packers doctors originally thought they would have to remove Finley's meniscus, which would have actually meant a quicker return to the field for the tight end. But during surgery, they discovered they could repair the meniscus, which in turn means a longer recovery but a better long term prognosis for Finley in the long run. Finley's recovery is expected to now be 8-10 weeks and the Packers are deciding whether or not to wait for his return.

The team also announced that it signed linebacker Robert Francois to the active roster from the practice squad.

W.T.F. I mean is this because I haven't been to church since Christmas? Honestly I wear a Packer sweatshirt EVERY day at work and I'm contemplating taking that off before I tear my ACL pushing a button in the studio. Just seems like a cursed team right now. Odds are if he's out 8-10 they'll just IR him, mainly because he would have to eat up a roster spot that entire time if they wait him out. Stupid no DL in the NFL. So for those keeping track or playing Packer injury bingo at home we've lost Burnett, (probably) Barnett, Martin, Grant, and Finley for the season. Not to mention a QB who may or may not know his own name, Tauscher, Chillar, Pickett, and Matthews looking suspect for the short term. Yikes. And don't sleep on the Derrick Martin injury either. Guy was about as good at safety as I am at _______ (insert athletic competition here), but he was EASILY our best special teamer, which if you haven't noticed is pretty suspect already. If you ask me Thompson and McCarthy need to 'accidently' hit the power button on this season without saving and just start over. Only solution.

PS: Why I picked Bill Shakespeare for the picture is beyond me. I just typed "srsly?" into google image search, hit I'm Feeling Lucky and bingo bango, Shakespeare makes a Strange Brew appearance. Somewhere he weeps.
