Is it just me or is SNL sneaky good lately? Like I don't think I've ever planned my night around SNL like my parents did when Belushi, Murray, and Chase were on in their prime, but compared to the early to mid-2000s I have to say the current cast is a drastic improvement. Maybe that's just because it was so awful for so long? Like no matter who took over Russia after Stalin it was going to be an improvement? Best situation to be in. You always want to get in when the bar is set low. Like whoever takes over the morning show at B93 when I inevitably get fired is going to be PRIMED for success.
Alright well I'm not sure how I got on a SNL/Stalin/radio rant there, but here are some quick thoughts on the Pack's win last night over the Vikings. Normally I would go more in depth but I was there, I smell like a frat house the day after a house party and the quicker I do this, the quicker I get home to shower (read: sleep, then play Madden, the shower).
- Anytime people bitch about how much they hate Mike McCarthy I always say to myself: at least we don't have Brad Childress. Which was actually close to happening. They got hired the same season, and Childress was on his way to an interview in Green Bay until the Vikings basically locked him in a room and signed him to a contract. Not only is he an awful play caller but an even worse locker room guy. Like did anyone see the post game presser? He was downright GIDDY to be able to throw Favre under the bus. Makes McCarthy look like Bear Bryant. Minus the racism.
- Say what you will about Ted Thompson, 'he doesn't make trades,' 'he doesn't sign veterans,' 'he might be a cyborg,' but don't say the guy doesn't know how to draft. The fact that this team can slip guys like Bulaga, Quarless, and even 7th rounders like CJ Wilson into the lineup and not miss a beat is a credit to our depth.
- How do all those fans/journalists/half assed bloggers feel about wanting to trade AJ Hawk in week 2 now? Here's an excerpt from a particularly moronic blogger when rumors were spreading that they might swing AJ for Marshawn Lynch.
That plus you almost had to send out an amber alert to find Hawk in Sunday's game, and while he has been steady in his tenure in Green Bay, he has been allergic to the big plays he was drafted for while at Ohio State. So if this is on the table I say we do a fair trade at midfield on Sunday.
What is this amateur hour? I mean how does this guy have a forum to blog about anything? Bottom line is since he's gotten playing time Hawk is making tackles like Apple is making apps, all the time. Not to mention he's got two picks, and has been a calming influence on this defense since Barnett went down. So to say he's growing on me would be an understatement. You know what he's like? The ESPN bottom line. People hated it at first, then it grew on us, and now sports fans can't imagine life without it. So AJ Hawk is basically like the ESPN bottom line.
- Credit Chad Clifton for reducing Jared Allen to a diet version of himself, same Allen craziness, half the impact. Dude was wearing Rodgers OUT last year in both meetings. No sacks last night.
All of that plus Favre basically cost the Vikings a game in Lambeau. Honestly with some of the throws he was making you might add an extra win to his Packer career total. Plus nothing gives me more pleasure than looking at the standings and seeing the Packers back in first and the Vikings a game above the Lions. Being close to the Lions in anything is NOT a good look.
PS: I'd hate to see my extended thoughts if these were 'quick.'
