Let me say that in my life I have felt bad for Detroit Lions fans exactly 0 times. Like I laughed out loud when they went 0-16 and acted like the Packers won the Super Bowl when they beat them in the final game. But that changed yesterday folks. And not solely because Calvin Johnson is my fantasy wide receiver and I lost my matchup by 4 points/mainly because Calvin Johnson is my fantasy receiver and I lost my matchup by 4 points. Because if that is not a touchdown I don't know what is. Dude had three feet down, an ass down, and the ball in his control across the plain of the goal line. Bingo bango, touchdown. And I LOVED how Fox had the head of officials on to discuss it during the review and even his response was flaky. "Ermmmm, well according to the rules, that could or could not be a catch, boy am I happy I don't have to make that call." Listening to that guy try and explain how that wasn't a touchdown was like listening to me try to negotiate another drink at the bar once the lights are on: ineffective. Like if I understand this rule correctly, Donald Driver would have to maintain possession during his Lambeau Leap for a TD?
So to say it sucks to be a Lions fan today would be an understatement. They've won 2 games in the last 2 seasons, haven't won a road game in since Wayne Fontes was their coach, had their star young QB go down in the 2nd quarter and STILL should have won with Shaun frieking Hill as their backup. In a related story Chicago can't count this as a victory. As far as I'm concerned this is what the NFC North looks like this morning:
1. Packers 1-0 (x)
2. Lions 0-1
3. Vikings 0-1
4. Bears 0-2
x=clinched the division. And yes I'm giving the Bears two losses for winning the way they did.
PS: Is this somehow a good day in Detroit? Like it's so bad there that even losing like this is the highlight of the day?
