Alright Ted Thompson, if you're not going to respond to the emails and phone calls of an owner I guess I'll have to resort to blogging about you to literally tens of people. I didn't want it to come to this but this is what happens when upper management gets the cold shoulder. If you fail to respond, I'm afraid we may have to call in the Bob's to get your attention.
Anyway if you missed it, Hurricane Sandy extended the NFL trade deadline to tomorrow at 3pm and if there was ever a time to part with a draft pick for Steven Jackson now would be it. Guy has put up massive numbers in his career but nobody knows it because he's been on double secret probation with an anemic Rams team. Seriously look at some of his seasons in the past. 1,000 + yards on the regular with some 1,500 yard seasons spiked in. Now granted he's a little older (29) for a running back, but just like with Cedric Benson, we don't need a guy to grind out 25-30 carries a game. Give us 15-20 quality carries and this offense is set. Now what do you do when Benson comes back? I dunno. I guess it's never a bad thing to have two above average running backs on your roster right? Granted my GM-ing experience is limited mostly to Madden where I'm concerned only about the present year and make ridiculous trades that would eventually land my team in a worse financial situation than those who went all in on Facebook stock. But as far as I'm concerned live in the 'now' and worry about inevitable repercussions later. A philosophy for life brought to you by Generation Y.
Bottom line is this is like a Craigslist missed connection. Me: A team with injury problems and an inept rushing attack averaging less than 2.5 ypc. You: A consistent runner who can finish games and has sweat dreads. Couldn't be any simpler. And I can't imagine it would cost too much. I know Ted Thompson values draft picks more than breathing. Hell if you went into his house it would look like a draft pick edition of Hoarders. Got a two year old 5th rounder in the fridge, 7th rounders stacked in the living room, Mel Kiper suffocating under a pile of draft combine reports/Aquanet. But my guess is a 5th rounder would get the job done. So let's make it happen Ted!
PS: I feel like Dwight trying to rip the Xterra off of Andy in The Office. Do it Ted. Do it now. Don't think, just act. 5, 4, 3, 2.....
Double PS: You better believe I pulled a He-Man the day I got control of B93.
