Badgers; bad team, or jumping to conclusions?

Alright so like a lot of Badger fans I watched Saturday night's game just waiting for them to crank it up and lap Utah State. After the 1st quarter I said, 'ah it's early, they'll start playing for real in the 2nd quarter.' Then when they were down 14-3 at halftime I said to myself 'meh its onley the tird inning, theu'll scor a home run soonly' (I'd had a lot to drink at that point). And after Utah State barely missed a 38 yarder for the win at Camp Randall I thought 'GO PACK GO! GO PACK GO!'

So I've read a lot of recap articles and game grades and blah blah blah and I'm still not sure what side of the fence I'm on 3 games in. There are some people who think this is a turrible team that will barely qualify for a bowl, there are some that think once the offensive line gets more reps together and begin, you know, give Montee Ball running lanes, that they'll get going and be the Wisconsin of old. I guess I'm somewhere in between (enter my friends making ghey jokes while they read that line). Like there's no way you go from back to back Rose Bowls to being a team that can barely beat at FCS school, but at the same time, the results are the results. You barely made it past Northern Iowa, got beat 10-7 at Oregon State where the final score may as well have been 45-0, and then you squeak past Utah State because their kicker pulled a Norwood. Plus you've got Bielema walking around like Vince McMahon yelling YOU'RE FIRED! at every position coach and your high profile quarterback transfer has the mobility of Drew Bledsoe and the arm of Brian Brohm. Those are the facts.

All I know is if I'm Matt Canada I don't care if Ball is getting 3 yards a carry, give it to him, then give it to him again, then again, then again. All this wizardry with lining Ball up as a wide out and 5 receiver sets and whatnot is like trying to reinvent the wheel. And where's James White? Guy was the freshman of the year two years ago! Sure he got lapped by Ball last year, but 2 or 3 carries a game? Bucky is going to have arms like mine soon if he's only doing 12 push ups a game. UTEP has given some teams all they can handle so far this season so this is a good acid test on Saturday. But at this rate we may not even have a money betting line against Michigan State.

PS: Percentage chance if you looked at Montee Ball's Google search history there's 'was back to the future based on real events' somewhere. Because if Doc Brown rolled up in the DeLorean right now and Montee could go back to March and declare for the draft and make millions instead of getting arrested, assaulted, and then running into a brick wall 40 times ago he'd take it in a heart beat.
