Look I don't really know what to say about that disaster on Saturday night. Lots of things to be pissed about on Monday. I'm pissed that Jeremy Ross muffed a punt that changed the game. I'm pissed that Mike McCarthy punted down 14 in the 4th quarter when our defense couldn't stop present day Randal Cunningham let alone Kaepernick. I'm pissed that Donald Driver didn't get in once the game was decided. I'm pissed that I know more about gap discipline than Erik Walden. I'm pissed that I invested heavily in HD-DVD during the high definition wars. I'm still pissed that Kevin and Winnie didn't end up together. And my gut reaction is that Dom Capers should be in a meeting with the Bob's today even though I know that's a overreaction. But I don't want this blog to be about all of that. The above video was put out last week and Donald had it on his Facebook page and I thought it was tremendous. I don't think there's any question that Saturday was Driver's last game as a Packer and it's been an absolute pleasure to watch him the past decade plus. The guy brought 1,000% effort to every game, was a stand up guy off the field and the best 'glue' guy that locker room has had in the past 20 years and that includes Favre. Easily on my top 5 favorite Packer list. Rodgers and Favre are probably 1A, 1B, Reggie's up there and I always had a soft spot for Don Beebe, but Driver is right there. Selfishly I hope he retires but if he can still play, more power to him. I can honestly say he's a player I would root for on an opposing team. As long as that team isn't the Vikings. Or Lions. Or Bears. Or Niners......probably not the Patriots either. And the Seahawks, Eagles and Cowboys. But other than those teams if Donald wants to keep going then I say get after it.
PS: You know what the Packer defensive effort reminded me of? Mr. Boom Goes the Dynamite himself, Brian Collins:
Doesn't that seem to sum it up? Started out alright (Shields pick 6), then immediately took a turn for the worse (Collins' 'oh no'=Niners first scoring drive) and rarely goes well until he briefly gets it together (2:32-2:36=the defensive stop we got when it was 14-7), which lasts for 4 seconds until being total crap the rest of the way (Ross fumble, everything else). Packer's defense being compared to the Boom Goes the Dynamite kid, not a great look Dom. Not a great look at all.
Double PS: This video still makes me laugh 100 times out of 100.
