The Packers finally overcame mistakes, injuries and the ol' gunslinger himself in the final minute to beat the Minnesota Vikings 28-24 before the third largest crowd in Lambeau Field history and a national "Football Night in America" audience. The win wipes away the pain of back to back overtime losses and thanks to some help from the Washington Redskins, or Jay Cutler, depending on how you look at it, propels Green Bay back into a tie for the NFC North Division lead at 4-3. Aaron Rodgers threw a nasty interception, his first ever in the red zone on the opening series, an ill advised screen picked off by last year's nemesis Jared Allen. Rodgers would throw a second on a deep ball to Greg Jennings in the end zone but he also fired two scoring passes, 9 yards to rookie Andrew Quarless in tight coverage and a 14 yarder to Jennings in the third quarter, both putting Green Bay on top. 41 year old Brett Favre, with plenty of help from Adrian Peterson's 131 yards rushing and Percy Harvin's play making ability, kept the Vikings in the game all night. Harvin cracked a 48 yard kickoff return, scored on a 17 yard draw play up the middle and caught a team high 5 passes for 65 more yards. But as Minnesota fans are finding out, and Green Bay fans have known for years, Favre will break your heart as easily as he will dazzle you. The Packers makeshift defense intercepted him three times, A.J.Hawk's theft set up Jennings' third quarter TD, less than a minute later, Desmond Bishop snared an ill advised toss and returned it 32 yards for a score that made it 28-17 Packers. Nick Collins lept over Harvin for a third interception in the 4th quarter. The defensive line was reduced to three healthy players when Cullen Jenkins was a pre-game scratch with a leg injury and Ryan Pickett lasted only a few snaps before his sprained ankle flared up. Second year pro Jarius Wynn, cut in training camp, and 7th round pick C.J. Wilson, teammed up with B.J.Raji to go the distance along the line. Wilson got the only sack of Favre and his QB hit led to Bishop's interception. Favre had one last shot to rally the Vikes, starting at his own 17 with 6:07 to play. He converted a pair of 4th down plays on the drive which reached the Packers' 15 after a 26 yard screen pass to Peterson with 1:03 to play. After a false start penalty, Phil Loadholt was called for grabbing Clay Matthews' face mask making it first and 30 from the 35. Favre found Harvin at the back of the end zone for a touchdown that a booth review showed was incomplete, one of three scoring passes denied by replay. On 4th and 15, Favre slipped in the pocket, scrambled and tried to hit Randy Moss at the back of the end zone but the ball was high and the Pack had the win. Favre was noticeably limping after the game, one in which his passer rating was just 50.4. Minnesota outgained the Pack 402-379 but committed one more turnover and 4 more penalties in dropping to 2-4. James Jones caught 4 passes for 107 yards but Donald Driver's consecutive games streak with at least one catch ended at 133 as he was shut out. Rodgers finished 21 of 34 for 295 and a passer rating of 84.8. A.J Hawk led the team in tackles with 11. Here's what the guys said in the locker room:
