Following practice Wednesday, Mike McCarthy announced free agent rookie linebacker Frank Zombo will continue starting for the Packers defense. He made his first pro start Monday night against the Bears and recorded his second pro sack. Brad Jones was inactive because of a sore knee and while he was a full participant at practice, the team is unsure if he'll be full strength by Sunday's game against Detroit. McCarthy said he's made a mistake over the first couple of weeks, waiting for an injured player to get well, only to find out late in the week he won't be ready. McCarthy said the players who practice all week or are among the most experienced will get the starting jobs. The only player who did not participate Wednesday was linebacker Brandon Chillar with a sore shoulder. Clay Matthews is the NFC's defensive player of the month. He recorded sack hat tricks in each of the first two games to lead the league with 6. Pro Bowl safety Nick Collins apologized for his role in the altercation with fans after the Bears game Monday night. The incident is being reviewed by the NFL.
