Several visitors of note for Tuesday's practice on the Nitschke turf. The NFL Network set up a camera on the west sideline and showed much of the workout on the network with reporter Stacy Dales on hand. Mike Mayock of the Network also spent a second day watching practice. Also on hand for the workout were several members of the Wisconsin Football Coaches Association. Several current and former High School coaches watched practice including Bill Collar, Phil Morgan, Dick Heiptas and Jim Allen.
A few new injuries of note, Ryan Pickett suffered a knee bruise, Mike Daniels had his left knee iced and complained of a tight groin. Free agent running back Marc Tyler had a shoulder injury. On the positive side, Jermichael Finley worked out in pads for the first time and Greg Jennings should return Wednesday from a bruised elbow. PUP list players like Desmond Bishop and John Kuhn might be on the field by the end of the week.
The purpose of the early camp practices is to install the game book. Mike McCarthy figures it will take another week before it's in. The focus on Tuesday was on special situations like no huddle offense, the two minute drill and red zone work. During the no huddle period, Finley made a tumbling catch to announce his return to the field but Jarius Wynn swiped an Aaron Rodgers screen pass for an interception. Morgan Burnett also had a pick during the team blitz period, a favorite of the defensive side. Rodgers got even so to speak during the red zone drill, with an impressive touchdown pass to Donald Driver with Jarrett Bush providing tight coverage. Driver, at 37, is playing as enthusiastically as a rookie and there is no doubt he's the favorite of the rail birds. If he even makes a catch in individual route drills, the cheers are loud. That's what a fancy rhumba will do for the popularity of the Dancing With the Stars champ. In goal line work, Rodgers and Finley connected against M.D. Jennings for a score but two running plays, from Brandon Saine and fullback Nic Cooper were stuffed from inside the five. Wednesday brings the final early morning practice of camp, the team works under the lights on Thursday night in advance of the Family Night Scrimmage at Lambeau which the team announced is a sellout.
