Sugarland is tentatively calling their upcoming album The Incredible Machine, which is also the title of their tour kicking off April 23rd in Primm, Nevada. In an interview withBillboard, Sugarland's Jennifer Nettles reveals both the album and tour will be influenced by the "steampunk movement" -- a genre of science fiction where humans grow intellectually, but their technology is stuck back in the Victorian era.
As for the new music, Jennifer expects to have 10 to 11 new songs on The Incredible Machine, which should be out this fall. She says it's a departure from Sugarland's three previous studio albums. "We didn't make it ballad-heavy, though we do enjoy those moments of poignancy," explains Jennifer. "The arrangements use different choices of instrumentation. I don't know if there's even a mandolin on this record." Jennifer's also digging into the grittier part of her voice on this new project. Listen for a new single from Sugarland from The Incredible Machine to hit the airwaves in the coming months.
Well they've got MY attention that is for sure. I can't wait to hear the new music and I REALLY hope I'll dig it.
