People magazine reports Shania Twain is getting her own one-hour show on Oprah Winfrey’s new network, OWN. The report says the 44-year-old singer will star in Why Not? With Shania Twain. The Oprah Winfrey Network released a statement saying Shania’s series will follow her as she “begins her climb back to the top, a personal journey filled with risk, revelations and unexpected adventures.”
Twain’s marriage ended in May 2008 over her husband Robert Lange's alleged relationship with her friend and employee, Marie-Ann Thiebaud. No word on when Why Not? With Shania Twain will air.
Shania Twain held her own as guest judge on American Idol during the Chicago auditions this season, and now it looks like she's headed back to the show for another appearance. According to TV Guide, an Idol source confirms Shania will serve as a mentor later in the season. While a rep for Shania is staying mum on her possible return appearance, he tells TV Guide, "She really enjoyed the show. She'd love to go back." There's no word just yet on what theme the contestants would take on under Shania.
