Brad Paisley screened his short film, When Mom's Away, at the Nashville Film Festival's closing night on Thursday. As the title implies, Brad shot the clip while wife Kimberly Williams-Paisley was away on business as a prank. As soon as she left, Brad teamed up with his band mates and bought a life sized doll at Toys R Us and dressed it in his son Huck's clothes. Brad then put the doll on a horse and also rolled his son's stroller down a hill with the doll inside, filming it all for the short movie. Says Brad, "When she got home, I had it all edited and ready pretty much...just had to press play, and it was horrifying and hilarious."
Since his son Huck appears in the film, Brad plans to only show When Mom's Away at certain film festivals, but he won't release it on DVD saying, "Then it's not -- people don't own it and they don't have it at home. They don't have a video of my son and everything else." Keeping the viewings limited to film festivals helps Brad maintain the lighthearted feel of the film too. He adds, "You're just seeing me be a goof."
