Once again, Tom Cruise is a man on a mission. He's agreed to reprise his role of secret agent Ethan Hunt for a fourth Mission: Impossible movie. Paramount Pictures announced Tuesday that Mission: Impossible IV will bow on Memorial Day weekend in 2011.
Cruise's renewed partnership with Paramount is intriguing, if only because their split in 2006 drew a lot of headlines. When Paramount ended their development deal with Cruise after 14 years, Summer Redstone, the head of Paramount's parent company, publicly criticized the actor's then-wacky behavior, typified by his jumping up and down on a couch during an appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show.
A director is not yet attached to Mission: Impossible IV. J.J. Abrams, who directed 2006's Mission: Impossible III and, more recently, the Star Trek reboot, will produce the upcoming sequel.
As much as Cruise tends to annoy me, I'm pretty stoked for his return to the Mission Impossible films, I LOVE them! ~Vanessa
