Alec Baldwin's spokesperson has confirmed that the actor went to a New York City hospital on Thursday. A law enforcement official told the Associated Press that Baldwin's 14-year-old daughter Ireland called 911, saying that she and her dad had argued, and that he'd threatened to take pills. Baldwin's spokesperson Matthew Hiltzik said in a statement, "This was a misunderstanding on one person's part. Alec was quickly released from the hospital; he's completely fine and will be at work today." In addition to his work on 30 Rock, Baldwin is also scheduled to co-host the Oscars March 7th with Steve Martin.
In 2008, a tape of a phone message that Baldwin had left for Ireland -- his daughter with ex-wife Kim Basinger -- caused a huge scandal when it was leaked. In the message, Baldwin called his daughter a "rude, thoughtless little pig," because he was apparently upset that she'd missed his call and hadn't phoned him back. He later said it was wrong for him to have left that message and was "horrified" by his behavior.
I have a love/hate relationship with Alec...I'm not sure if I love him or hate him. Sometimes he weirds me out and other times I adore him. Weird. ~Vanessa
