Shania Twain was all smiles as she carried the Olympic Torch through her hometown of Timmins, Ontario, Canada on Friday. Photos from the Canadian Press show a very bundled up Shania lighting the Olympic Cauldron with the Olympic Flame at Hollinger Park in Timmins on New Year's Day. Shania said, quote, "It's a highlight of my life to be able to carry the light, to light the cauldron." Thousands of fans were on hand braving the arctic conditions to see Shania. She said, quote, "It wouldn't be Timmins if it wasn't 40 below with the wind chill factor."
Shania actually donated her Olympic torch and the clothes she wore at the rally to the Shania Twain Centre in Timmins on Saturday. One addition to her torch made it unique. Shania told the Canadian Press she'd put hockey tape on the base of her torch so she wouldn't drop it. The 2010 Olympic Winter Games will begin in Vancouver on February 12th.
