The battle for the top-selling album of 2009 was a close call, according to Billboard, as both Taylor Swift's Fearless and Susan Boyle's debut album, I Dreamed A Dream, were in the running to claim the title. But, Taylor snagged the honor by moving 3,217,000 copies of her sophomore project, which was released in late 2008. Boyle's disc scored the second position by selling 3,104,000 albums in an impressive six weeks. The two artists also share the distinction of having the only two albums to surpass the three million mark for the year.

Meanwhile on the Billboard Country Albums chart this week, there was not much movement as three of the artists hold on to their positions at the top. Continuing her streak at #1 is Swiftwith her album Fearless. Carrie Underwood stays strong with Play On at #2, while Lady Antebellum's self-titled debut comes in again at #3. Zac Brown Band moves up a spot to the #4 position with The Foundation. Jason Aldean's Wide Open rounds out the Top 5 at #5.
