Oprah Winfrey, Ben Siller and Lindsay Lohan are among the many celebrities asking for people to support the survivors of the earthquake in Haiti. Winfrey started her television talk show on Wednesday by asking viewers to donate to the Red Cross. She said, quote, "This is a time where we, as a global nation, should come together and support those who are in need." Lee Daniels, director of the film Precious, said on Wednesday, quote, "Ultimately, what we do is so un-newsworthy in comparison and so unimportant when you have things like this at hand. Precious seems so unimportant when casualties like that happen." Stiller tweeted that quote, "people in Haiti need our help and attention right now." Lohan tweeted, quote, "...please help them..... I know I will as much as I can."
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have already put their money where their mouths are. The organization Doctors Without Borders says the couple has donated one million dollars to the group's emergency medical operations responding to the earthquake.
