Jason Aldean celebrated the chart-topping success of his hit "The Truth" at a #1 party on Music Row. BMI, the performance rights agency, applauded songwriter Ashely Monroe for co-writing Jason Aldean's latest No. 1 single, "The Truth" with a Monday (March 8) afternoon party at the organization's Nashville headquarters. It was her first chart-topper.
Monroe spoke briefly to thank the people who had helped bring her to this point, including, "my mother, standing right there -- the real pretty one." She was enthusiastic about Aldean's treatment of her song. "Jason, it still gives me a chill. Sometimes I forget I wrote it, and I just sing along."
The song, which has been a favorite at Jason's live shows, has been played more than 80 thousand times on country radio, so Country Radio Broadcasters presented Aldean with a certificate of achievement. CMT reports Aldean told the crowd his producer brought him a demo of "The Truth" and that they first listened to it in his car. He said he knew instantly he wanted to record it, noting, "From day one, it was my favorite song on the record."
Somebody get this girl a record deal stat! She is one of the most talented singer/songwriters I've ever met and we need more of her on Country Radio!!! ~Vanessa
