Zac Brown Band has teamed up with Ram Trucks to launch the Letters for Lyrics campaign, encouraging everyone to write notes to U.S. troops. They're hoping to get one million letters sent, and to help reach that goal, the band is sweetening the deal. Everyone who participates will get a compilation CD from Zac's Southern Ground Records label, featuring three new songs from Zac Brown Band as well as artists signed to the label, including Sonia Leigh, Nic Cowan and Levi Lowery.
U.S. Ram Trucks dealers are handing out special "Letters for Lyrics" stationary in addition to giving out the CD. Letters will also be collected at the Zac Brown Band's concerts. They just returned from a USO tour entertaining U.S. troops. Band member Coy Bowles says, "We started realizing how much of a connection we had with the military and how much the military was affected by our music, specifically with 'Chicken Fried' and it being a kind of a salute to the soldiers in that tune."
The letters from the new program will be sent to U.S. troops through the Solider's Angels organization. You can also check out footage from Zac Brown Band's recent USO tour and download a live version of their latest single, "Free," at RamTrucks.com.
