Chely Wright is set to appear on The Oprah Winfrey Show Wednesday to talk about coming out as a lesbian in her new book, Like Me. Since making the announcement a few weeks back, Chely says only two country artists have contacted her with words of encouragement about the decision.  She calls that "a little disappointing."

As for the larger country community, Chely tells Oprah she's gotten hundreds of e-mails, texts and phone calls from those who work behind the scenes. She also performed for the USO quite a bit over the course of her career, and Chely admits she was nervous the military would shun her once she came out as a lesbian. That fear subsided last week when Chely ran into a dozen military men in full uniform, and one of them remembered her coming to entertain his troop over in the Middle East. She says, "It was one of my fears that I would never get to go back, and they said, "You were there for us. We're gonna be there for you."
