I'm Trying To Keep It All In Perspective, Especially After the Newtown Tragedy

cereal

I was trying to get my daughters to eat breakfast before heading out the door this morning and they both WHINED to me that we had NOTHING to eat.  I told them to hurry up and eat some cereal "or else!" ( Not really sure what the "or else" even meant as we had no time for anything else but eating breakfast before we had to bolt for school and work.)  My 9 year old then went to the panty and started to open a BRAND NEW box of cereal and I was like whaaaaat?  We have SIX boxes of already opened cereal (see above), there is no need to open up another box.  She looked at me and said she didn't like any of the cereal that was opened.  Really?  It isn't like I make them eat super healthy cereal, they have sugary, kid-friendly options, PLUS I let them pick out cereal at the store so there should be no reason to complain....right??

They ended up eating from one of the already opened boxes and I ended up laughing it off because I could hear the news coming from the TV in the other room talking about the funerals of some of the victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School Shooting in Newtown, CT.  :(  Yes my kids can drive me crazy sometimes, but I'd take them driving me crazy 24/7 over losing them forever. Perspective.
