Congrats to Thomas Rhett and his new bride! The "Beer With Jesus" singer wed Lauren Gregory on Friday, Oct. 12. “We dated once when we were 15, and it didn’t work out. We dated for like six months. We remained best friends even after we broke up. We both dated other people for like five years. When I heard that she had ended her other relationship — this was last spring — I moved in for the kill.” told Taste of Country as the couple were planning for their wedding.
The smitten singer-songwriter adds, “We kissed, and that was it. We dated for probably six months, and we got engaged last December, around Christmas time.”
Thomas popped the question inside a private room at Lauren's favorite Nashville restaurant, Giovanni's, where he'd enlisted her mom to help stash flowers, candles and one very important prop. "There was a (wine) bottle and with a silver Sharpie I wrote 'marry me?' on the bottle, and she wrote 'Well, duh, yes' on the bottle," the singer recalls. "Somebody cued 'The Way You Look Tonight' by Frank Sinatra, and we danced in this little cigar room. It was pretty awesome."
The son of acclaimed singer-songwriter Rhett Akins, Thomas released a five-song EP on August 28, hitting No. 1 on iTunes' country albums chart that very same day. The project's first single, "Something to Do With My Hands" reached the Top 15, with its powerful followup, "Beer With Jesus," now climbing the charts. The musician's first full-length album is expected early next year.
I LOVE his five-song EP, I can't get enough!! Looking for something new? Get it!
