During Monday night's BCS title game between Alabama and Notre Dame (1/7), announcer Brent Musburger spent quite a bit of time talking about Katherine Webb, the girlfriend of Alabama quarterback A.J. McCarron...listen below...

 It was uncomfortable enough that ESPN actually apologized.

"We always try to capture interesting storylines and the relationship between an Auburn grad who is Miss Alabama and the current Alabama quarterback certainly met that test. However, we apologize that the commentary in this instance went too far and Brent understands that." 

Webb says she wasn't offended by it at all and told the Associated Press earlier today, "It was kind of nice. I didn't look at it as creepy at all. For a woman to be called beautiful, I don't see how that's an issue."

Her father, Alan Webb, agreed and said, "On one hand, you can look at it as being kind of like the dirty old man, but I'm used to this and I think if you really look into what that he was trying to say, he was trying to be complimentary, and I think they need to give Brent a break.

 

 

 

 

Due to all the attention during the game she's seeing a huge increase in popularity.  On Twitter alone, she's racking up followers at an astonishing rate. Before last night's game she reportedly had about 500 followers, now she has almost at 200,000 followers -- including LeBron James and Darnell Dockett, who tweeted his phone number to her and suggested they get together after the game.
