Lady Antebellum Almost Lost "Downtown" Their New Single To Miranda Lambert!

Lady Antebellum just released brand new music this week, a new single titled "Downtown."  They fell in love with the song last summer when they first heard it and were eager to cut it until they found out that Miranda Lambert had it on hold already and wanted to record it herself.  What's a band to do?

Group member Charles Kelley says, "Well, she finds out that we are in love with the song and really want to cut it, and bless her heart, she gave it back, gave it to us and let us cut it.  So, I thought that was really cool."

"That just shows how tight knit this town is too," Charles adds.  "She goes, 'Lady A really wants this, I'm gonna let them have it.'"

As for the feel of "Downtown," Lady A's Dave Haywood was first drawn to the song's attitude.

"I think right when I heard it, I was like, 'Man, this reminds me of almost an old Sheryl Crow kind of song from the '90s, or some of that old production,'" Dave says.  "We thought it was such a fun, energetic, kind of a little swagger, if you will."

I agree with Dave, it definitely has a different feel with a sound for them which isn't a bad thing at all.  What do you think of it?
