Randy Travis is expected to plead guilty to misdemeanor drunk driving charges Thursday in Sherman, TX according to his lawyer Larry Freeman. The charge is punishable by one year in jail and a $4,000 fine.

This particular case stems from Travis's August 7 arrest after he veered off the road in his Pontiac Grand Am and was discovered in the road naked, according to authorities. He was reportedly combative at the scene and had a blood-alcohol level of .15. The legal limit for driving is .08.

Randy's lawyer said, "It was an unfortunate event, but the reality is it occurred and what we've worked out with the DA is a way to put it behind Randy so he can put it behind him so he can go on and take advantage of the opportunities before him in 2013."

I've heard Randy has stopped drinking and is seeking professional help for his alcoholism.  I'm so glad he's taking those steps to move forward with his life and career.  Sure wish him all the best!
