Apparently our Tooth Fairy's going rate of $1 per tooth is below the national average? Here I thought it was a nice increase from the 25 cents I got from her as a kid...
A new survey reveals the average Tooth Fairy gift went from $2.10 in 2011 to $2.42 in 2012, a 15.2 percent increase.
Delta Dental’s 2012 Original Tooth Fairy Poll of 1,224 parents reveals the Tooth Fairy visited nearly 90 percent of U.S. homes with children who lost a tooth. The average gift was $2.42 in 2012, but the most common amount left under pillows was $1.
The poll also finds that the Tooth Fairy was more generous to kids who lost their first tooth. The average gift for a first tooth was $3.49.
The Tooth Fairy left cash for kids in 98 percent of the homes she visited. Two percent of the children received toys, candy, gum or other gifts.
What is the going rate in your house for the Tooth Fairy?
