This past week we hit up Oostburg for the first time this season for their non-conference matchup with Horicon. To say things did not go well for the Marshmen would be an understatement. Oostburg, to steal an overused catchphrase, as been 'chomping at the bit' to get back after it after their game last week at Aurora was cancelled due to weather. So it had been two weeks since their opening night loss to New Holstean. Oostburg came out with a 75 yard kick return for a touchdown by Parker Gabrielse and never looked back. In fact Gabrielse added a punt return for a touchdown as well as a QB scramble for a TD that made him our player of the game. Oostburg had a 'down' year last year at 2-7. For a team that is accustomed to success under head coach Scott Ring (44-27 career record) I'm sure they're ready for a rebound.
Other games this past weekend saw New Holstein stay hot with a win against Kiel. The Huskies were 1-8 the last two years but have come out strong in 2013. Kiel meanwhile will be one of the teams to beat in the area, but at 1-2 are off to a slow start in the Mike Dressler era. Tough opening schedule with 3 straight road games. They finally have their home opener this weekend and we'll be there. Tough matchup with Waupan.
Sheboygan North and South both got hit last weekend. North is now 0-2 since that opening night with against Pulaski but look for them to bounce back at home.
