DIY Dry Shampoo

by Nikki Montgomery

Dry shampoo is the best thing ever!! If you do a lot of camping or if you plan to travel this summer you need some. I went on a train trip so I was stuck on a train with no shower for 26 hours. I used dry shampoo and at least my hair looked awesome. You better believe I'll be using it at Country Fest this year too since we'll be there for 4 days. If I can make it through only taking 1 shower I will be a happy camper.

You can buy dry shampoo at a salon or at your favorite store, but you can save yourself some money and just make it yourself. Your DIY dry shampoo only takes a few ingredients: cornstarch, water, rubbing alcohol, an an essential oil in whatever scent you like. You'll need a spray bottle and a mixing bowl.

In the bowl mix:

1 tbsp of cornstarch
4 tbsp of water
1 tbsp of rubbing alcohol or organic ethanol
A few drops of essential oil (such as lavender, peppermint, or vanilla) for scent

Then simply pour the mixture into the spray bottle.

When you're ready to use it shake well and spray the dry shampoo on your roots just enough to dampen and comb through your hair. You can leave it air dry or blast your roots with a blow dryer and fluff with your fingers.

Done!

If you try this let me know how it works for you.
