Video of Martin Maldonado crushing a Pirate during yesterday's brawl.

(Whoever deperrigo32 is get's an A+ for commentary. One simple John Madden 'boom.' Simple but effective. I could learn something from him. Now if you'll excuse me onto my doctorate on a 13 second video.)

Ahhhh nothing like a little casual Easter Sunday afternoon baseball right folks?! Man what a game and series for the Crew. Snatching victory from the jaws of defeat on Friday and Saturday and capping it with a 14 inning 'W' yesterday that included this melee. Honestly I'm so sick of pitchers getting butt-hurt when someone showboats after they crush a pitch. You don't want to get Cadillac-ed then don't serve up gopher balls/triples. Same deal as when Gomez got into it with Brian McCann last season. 85% of players who 'know' they hit a home run strut out of the batter's box. It's 2014 not 1914. Deal with it.

Now obviously Gomez is staring down a suspension but what went unnoticed about this was the hay-maker that Martin Maldonado landed! Haven't seen a punch like that since Biff Tannen got knocked out by George McFly at the Enchantment Under the Sea dance. Only thing missing was Jim Ross appearing out of nowhere to call it. I want to live in a world where he just waits for these moments in a room with 234324 TV's and anytime a fight breaks out he can override the system. GOOD GOD ALMIGHTY WE'VE GOT A PIER 6 BRAWL! BUSINESS IS ABOUT TO PICK UP!

The other element of baseball fights I love watching is the bullpens. Like it's just a long run in it's comical to watch them and when they decide to make the jaunt in from the outfield. 'Hey guys fight broke out!' 'Alright let's wait a second and make sure this is worth our time.......yeah they're still fighting.....okay let's ride!' And then by the time they get there the fight's over and they just have to walk all the way back having never really gotten involved. They're like the French.

PS: I know Tony La Russa has nothing to do with this but in a different way this is 100% his fault. CODE OF THE GAME!

Double PS: I will grant that showboating a bit after you think you hit a home run and then seeing it not go out of the park its a little embarrassing. Could have been worse though Go Go, at least you got a triple:
