MILWAUKEE (WSAU) Two workers for the controversial group ACORN were charged in Milwaukee today with getting false voter registrations.
36-year-old Maria Miles of Milwaukee and 26-year-old Kevin Clancy of Racine were among five Wisconsinites whose charges were announced by state Attorney General J-B Van Hollen. Miles and Clancy are charged with felonies, and both are due in Milwaukee County Circuit Court on April 20th. Prosecutors said they submitted multiple voter applications from the same people in order to meet sign-up quotas that were ordered by ACORN – the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now.
The other three are charged with illegally voting as convicted felons, and a husband-and-wife are each charged with voting twice in last November’s presidential election. The charges were investigated by Milwaukee’s Election Fraud Task Force. They were announced on the same day that the Journal Sentinel exposed an e-mail from a prosecutor which accused Milwaukee Police with ignoring voter fraud cases for at least the first six months of last year.
