School closings due to snowstorm across parts of northwest Wisconsin

EAU CLAIRE, WI (WTAQ) - Schools are closed Monday in about three dozen northwest Wisconsin districts, as a result of the major snowstorm that hit most of the Badger State Sunday and Sunday night.

Eau Claire, Chippewa Falls, and Menomonie are among the largest school systems that are shut down for the day. Those places also received the largest amount of snow – up to 13 inches.

Bayfield is the northern-most school system to shut down. That area received over 9 inches.

Dozens of other school districts in the northern half of the state are opening two hours late. That includes 4 districts in Clark County, where up to 8 inches fell, and a few schools in the northeast part of the state.

Forecasters say more scattered snow showers are possible in the north Monday, with patchy freezing drizzle and scattered flurries in the south.

The precipitation is expected to clear out Monday night, with colder temperatures expected in the single digits and teens.
