Darius Rucker is doing his part to make sure the kids in storm-ravaged Lindenhurst, NY have a merry Christmas. The city was the winner in Darius's Demand It contest through Eventful to receive $10,000 worth of toys for children in need. Lindenhurst was badly damaged by Hurricane Sandy, so Darius is looking forward to spreading holiday cheer there with the toy drop on Monday.
"To see all these fans come together and 'Demand' their votes be counted in an area devastated by Hurricane Sandy is just incredible,” Darius said in a statement. “It never ceases to amaze me how caring country music fans are in helping others, and together we'll be making the holidays happier for families who really need the help."
Darius will visit a Toys "R" Us store near Lindenhurst on Monday morning to purchase the toys and then help several U.S. Marines load the Toys for Tots truck in the parking lot. Toys for Tots will then distribute the toys to local agencies to get them in the hands of area children.
