Sheboygan Area Under Winter Storm Warning

SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - What was initially a Winter Storm Watch for the Sheboygan area has been upgraded to a Winter Storm Warning.  The National Weather Service is forecasting 6 to 16 inches of snow beginning late Wednesday night and continuing all day Thursday.  The heavier amounts of snow will fall away from the lake and lower amounts - due to wet snow mixing with rain - near the lake.

Meanwhile, parts of Wisconsin will see some accumulating snow this afternoon. The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory until six this evening for much of far southern Wisconsin, including Madison. That region could pick up 2 to 3 inches today. They’ll then get a little break before 7 to 10 more inches arrive tomorrow evening into Thursday – when winds are supposed to gust to up to 40-miles-an-hour.  The weather advisory continues until nine tonight in southeast Wisconsin. Dodge County expects 2 to 3 inches today, and 6 to 10 more when the next wave comes through starting tomorrow night. Metro Milwaukee is expecting a little less – an inch or two today and 4 to 6 Thursday.  Racine and Kenosha is supposed to get even less snow.  But a rainy mix there could make things icy at times.  Southwest, central, and northeast Wisconsin are projected to miss today’s snow – but they’re still supported to get 6 to 10 inches tomorrow night and Thursday. Virtually all of Wisconsin is projected to get high winds on Thursday – causing blowing and drifting snow in many locations.
