Special election ordered for 98th District Assembly seat

MADISON, WI (WTAQ) - A special election for a vacant Wisconsin Assembly seat has been added to next spring’s ballots.

Monday, Governor Scott Walker ordered a special vote for the 98th District Assembly seat given up by Republican Paul Farrow of Pewaukee, after he was elected to a vacant Senate seat earlier this month.

The primary will be held February 19th with the general election on April 2nd. Those are the same dates as the voting for local offices, state School Superintendent, and state Supreme Court justice.

Walker said it would save tax dollars to hold the Assembly election at the same time as the others.

Four Republicans have already lined up to run for the Assembly post – former lieutenant governor chief of staff Jeanne Tarantino, ex-legislative aide Adam Neylon, construction project manager Todd Greenwald, and Marquette graduate student Matt Morzy.
