WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) - The wife of Marathon County sheriff Randy Hoenisch is facing criminal charges. 41-year old Kim M. Hoenisch is a probation agent with the Wisconsin Department of Corrections at the Wausau Regional Field Office for the Division of Community Corrections. Charges were filed today accusing her of misconduct in public office, burglary, possession of narcotic drugs, and possession of a drug without a prescription.
Marathon County District Attorney Kenneth Heimerman requested that a special prosecutor handle the case, since he does not want any possible conflict of interest issue to develop. The DA's office has to work closely with both the Sheriff's Department and the probation agents under the Department of Corrections. A prosecutor from the Attorney General's office will handle the case. Attorney Harry Hertel from Eau Claire will be defending Hoenisch.
Hoenisch is scheduled to make an initial appearance in Marathon County court December 28th at 2:00 p.m.
