Much On the Line as Vikings Host Packers

MINNEAPOLIS, MN (WHBL) - Things like byes and rushing records aren’t the focus for Green Bay head coach Mike McCarthy or Minnesota head coach Leslie Frazer.  Just win.  Everything else will take care of itself.  A win for the Packers would mean a first round bye in the NFC playoffs.  If the Vikings can beat the Packers, it would be their first postseason action since 2009 and would likely mean a rematch at Lambeau Field in the wild-card round. The 9-6 Vikes can make the playoffs with a loss, but it is complicated. If they drop today’s home game, they would need the Bears, the Cowboys and the Giants to all lose.  Minnesota running back Adrian Peterson gouged the Packer defense for 210 yards the last time the two teams met December 2nd in a 23-14 loss.  He needs 208 yards today to break the all-time NFL rushing record set by Eric Dickerson.

On the injury front, Randall Cobb is listed as questionable while cornerback Davon House is listed as doubtful with shoulder-and-hip injuries.  McCarthy said House is not recovering as fast as the coaches had hoped.  Only two Packers are listed as “out” for the Vikings’ game, and neither are a surprise. They’re defensive back Charles Woodson and running back James Starks.

Coverage of the game on WHBL begins at 1pm with kickoff at 3:25.
