SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (WHBL) - The Sheboygan County Board, with no discussion, unanimously approved the county’s 2013 budget Tuesday night.  It will mean a slight increase in property taxes for county purposes.  The total budget is up by 2.7 percent, the tax levy is up by just under 1 percent, and the county tax rate goes up 13 cents to $5.41 per thousand.  The tax rate increase is due primarily to a decrease in county property values.  Finance Director Terry Hanson said it’s the first budget to fully reflect Act 10, which made public employees contribute more toward their benefits.  Hanson said the county is hoping to get law enforcement - currently exempt - on board with the additional benefits in 2013.  He said the additional revenue is included in the budget.  He said if that can’t be negotiated, the budget will then be adjusted.
