RACINE, Wis. (WHBL) - There was a fatal fire in Racine early Thursday morning. Two children taken to Wheaton Franciscan All Saints emergency in Racine shortly after 1am died, and two others are at Children's Hospital. One adult needed treatment for smoke inhalation, while four firefighters went down with exhaustion. The 9-1-1 caller told dispatch about kids screaming inside the burning building, with the first crews on scene finding intense flames and smoke. All four children were removed within 17 minutes. The fire was declared out roughly an hour after the 9-1-1 call. Extra personnel and equipment were needed, while the fire department's two investigators were joined by a police investigator and evidence technician.
