CASCADE, Wis. (WHBL) - State Representative Dan Lemahieu, of Cascade, is completely on board with Governor Scott Walker’s decision to let the federal government set up Wisconsin’s insurance purchasing exchange. In an interview with WHBL Lemahieu said if we were going to pay for it and not set it up the way we want to, "as a state elected officialy trying to protect my taxpayers in Wisconsin and my district, that just doesn't make sense." Lemahieu said implementation in Wisconsin will bring severe consequences to health care, the business climate, and the state’s vitality. Lemahieu said, "We'll see as we go forward. I think it was the right decision and there's more states that are making that decision. I think, in the long run, when the costs start escalating and the plans aren't working out, it will be the federal government that will have to solve that problem and not us."
