GRINNELL, IA (WHBL) - A west central Wisconsin native shattered the N-C-A-A men’s basketball scoring record Tuesday night. Jack Taylor had 138 points for Division-Three Grinnell, in a 179-104 rout of Faith Baptist Bible in Grinnell Iowa. Taylor is a 5-10 sophomore from Black River Falls. He broke the national scoring record of 113 set by Bevo Francis of Rio Grande against Hillsdale in 1954. Taylor made 27 of 71 attempts from three-point range. He hit 52 of 108 overall from the floor, and made 7 of 10 free throws while playing for 36 minutes. He had 58 points by halftime. Taylor also shattered Grinnell’s previous scoring record of 89 points set by Griffin Lentsch last November 19th against Principia. Taylor recently transferred to Grinnell after playing for a season at U-W La Crosse. Grinnell is a Midwest Conference team that presses and shoots threes like no other school. Under coach David Arseneault, the Pioneers have led the nation in scoring for 17 of the last 19 years – and Grinnell ranked first in three-point shooting for 15 of those seasons.
