SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (WHBL) - The city of Sheboygan’s budget battle will continue tonight. The same budget that failed to gain approval last Monday is expected to be re-introduced tonight and then referred to the Finance Committee. The budget is tentatively scheduled to come back for final action later this week. A second special session is tentatively set for Wednesday. The council has until December the 10th to take action if tax bills are to go out on time. The council has been split between two budgets. One from the Finance Committee which includes the garbage collection fee, the other from Mayor Terry Van Akkeren without it. Van Akkeren has said he will veto any budget that contains the fee. It takes 9 votes to approve the budget and 11 votes to override a veto. Last Monday the budget received 8 votes, but there were 5 aldermen absent for deer hunting and other reasons.
