Brewers Lose, Split Series With Marlins

MIAMI, FL (WHBL) - The Milwaukee Brewers lost 6-2 Thursday afternoon to the Marlins in Miami. The Crew split their four-game series at the new Marlins’ Park. The Fish scored all the runs they needed in the opening frame, when they put three on the board. It was 4-zip after two innings, and Miami added a pair of insurance runs in the eighth. Both Milwaukee runs came on sacrifice flies from Ryan Braun in the third inning, and Norichika Aoki in the seventh. Aoki tripled for Milwaukee’s only extra-base hit. And it barely kept a string going in which the Brewers have had at least one extra-base in 76 straight games – the most in the Majors. Marco Estrada took the loss, while striking out five in five innings. He gave up four runs – three earned – on seven hits with no walks. Estrada fell to 2-6. Josh Johnson struck out seven in seven innings for the win.  Every position player who started got at least one hit for the Marlins, as they out-hit Milwaukee 12-6. Second baseman Donovan Solano went 3 for 4 with an R-B-I and a run scored. Miami won only its second game in its last seven. The Brewers dropped their fourth game in their last 17, and fell to seven games out of Wild Card playoff contention. Milwaukee is now three games below .500, and will open a series at Wild Card-leading Saint Louis Friday night.
