Blake Shelton went back to spoken-word country classics like Hank Williams, Jr. and Waylon Jennings 's "The Conversation" and Jerry Reed 's "Amos Moses" for inspiration while recording his latest hit, "Boys 'Round Here." Before he recorded the performance in his home studio in Los Angeles, Blake listened to Bocephus and Jerry's music to get in the right headspace.

He tells Billboard , "When you're having to speak a lyric like that, if you don't have that attitude and that swag, it's just going to fall flat on its face. You gotta pretend like you're Hank Jr. to do something like that, knowing you're a badass."

A good night's sleep helps Blake's delivery on the song too. He adds, "You can't be tired and perform 'Boys 'Round Here.'"

In addition to serving as a coach on NBC's The Voice these days, Blake is also scheduled to perform at the opening of the new Microsoft Store in San Francisco on April 27. Tickets for Blake's performance will be distributed to the first 200 people inside the store.
