Brewers Sweep the Giants

MILWAUKEE, WI (WHBL) - Yovani Gallardo said he felt pressure to produce Thursday, in the wake of three rough starts this month and his drunk driving arrest on Tuesday. Gallardo said he was as focused as ever, as he earned his first win of the season in a 7-2 Milwaukee Brewers’ victory over San Francisco at Miller Park. Gallardo pitched six solid innings, giving up one run on five hits and a walk. He struck out six. And Gallardo belted a two-run homer as he evened his record to 1-1, and brought his E-R-A down from 6.61 to almost 5.25.   Ryan Braun and Jonathan Lucroy also hit two-run blasts, as the Brewers scored all seven of their runs in the first three innings. Matt Cain gave up those runs on seven hits, three walks, and four strikeouts.  Brandon Crawford homered for the Giants, who were swept for three games by the Crew for the first time in almost five years. The Brewers have now won four straight after a 2-8 start. They’ll host the Chicago Cubs tonight. Right-hander Marco Estrada faces Cubs’ right-hander Jeff Samardzija.  Coverage on WHBL begins at 6:35.
