NEW YORK (WKZO) - Denfensive end Ezekiel Ansah of Brigham Young is the first round pick of the Detroit Lions. Ansah is 6'6" and 270 pounds, and is expected to bolster a Lions defensive line that has promise, but still needs more depth.
Originally from Ghana, and soccer and basketball were Anash's main sports growing up until he had an encounter with missionaries from the Mormon Church that introduced him to American football. Ansah began playing football in 2010 at BYU, and has also tried out for their basketball team. Anash ran track at BYU as well and was a major part of the Cougars' number-one rated red zone defense in 2012. Teammates, friends and fans know Ansah by his nickname: "Ziggy".
The number-one choice out of the Mid-American Conference was OL Eric Fisher of Central Michigan who has been selected by the Kansas City Chiefs.
